Blog: A Maryville Wedding at The House in The Woods at Maryville College
A Maryville Wedding
Courtney & Greg’s Maryville Wedding at The House in the Woods at Maryville College was absolutely stunning. We began the wedding day by photographing the bridal details. What luck we had finding a rustic barrel that just happened to be at the getting ready location. It made the perfect backdrop for the wedding details including the invitation, wedding bands, and bridal accessories. The Bride and bridesmaids began the day early with opening a bottle of champagne which was a blast to photograph outside of The House in The Woods, pun intended.
For the Groom prep, we separated and headed to the Groom’s residence. Greg and his Groomsmen enjoyed the perfect bonding time with some TV, food, and beers of course. Once all of the Groomsmen were dressed, we captured some photos of them together and headed back to the Brides location.
The wedding day itself flowed beautifully. The ceremony itself was very intimate. After the ceremony, we captured an emotional image of Courtney and her grandfather, whom she wasn’t sure would make it much longer after the wedding. Her grandfather himself mentioned that this would be his last wedding, very emotional for us indeed.
The evening events were very personalized to Courtney and Greg, with the inclusion of some Cuban cigars and more. With the sun setting rapidly, we whisked the couple away for a few romantic moments in the warm glow of the evening sun. To finish up, we photographed some amazing dance moves on the dance floor. What a beautiful day it was!
We currently showcase Courtney & Gregs complete wedding album at our Knoxville Studio.
The House in The Woods at Maryville College
The House in The Woods was built in 1917, however, it was renovated in 2002 to allow it to function as a special event center. With its location in the secluded woods of Maryville College, it is the perfect setting for an intimate and private wedding. An interesting fact about the woods around Maryville College, they were purchased for $21 and acquired by the college for a mear $1.
The house itself features upstairs rooms that are wide and open, perfect for bridal party preparation. Surrounding the house, gorgeous backgrounds are plenty. This makes an ideal location for family portraits before or after the wedding. The open grounds allow for plentiful options when it comes to reception planning.
